Getting started

Three Steps, and the Switch Is Done.

Changing bookkeepers sounds like a project. It usually takes one conversation and a file transfer.

Step 01

Free Consultation

Thirty minutes, in our office or over video. You show us what you have now — spreadsheets, a shoebox, another bookkeeper — and we tell you what it will take and what it will cost. No obligation either way.

Step 02

We Take It Over

We handle the handover: files from your current provider, software access, payroll setup and any backlog that needs cleaning up before we can close a clean month.

Step 03

A Monthly Rhythm

Books reconciled and closed each month, payroll run on your cycle, filings on the calendar, and a short report showing where the money actually went.

Why it matters

The Dates We Watch So You Don't Have To.

Most penalties a small business pays are for late filing, not for owing money. Our job is to make the calendar somebody else's problem.

Talk through your dates
  • 15th monthlyPayroll source deductions for regular remitters — accelerated remitters file more often
  • Last day of FebT4 and T4A slips filed with the CRA and given to your staff
  • Your GST periodGST/HST return, monthly, quarterly or annual depending on your revenue
  • April 30Personal tax balance owing — June 15 to file if you're self-employed
  • 6 months after year-endT2 corporate return, with balance owing due earlier

General guide only. Your exact dates depend on your remitter type, filing period and fiscal year-end — we'll confirm them at your consultation.

Common questions

Before You Call.

What does this cost?

A fixed monthly fee, quoted after the free consultation. It's based on transaction volume, how many people are on payroll, and how much catch-up work the books need. Once it's set, it doesn't move without a conversation, so there are no surprise invoices at month-end.

My books are months behind. Is that a problem?

No. It's one of the most common reasons people call us. We quote the catch-up work separately from the ongoing monthly fee, bring the books current, and then you're on a normal schedule.

Can you take over from my current bookkeeper mid-year?

Yes, and mid-year is fine. We request the file and the trial balance from your current provider, verify the opening balances ourselves rather than assuming they're right, and pick up from the last clean month.

Which accounting software do you work in?

We work in the major cloud packages and can keep you on whatever you already use. If you're on spreadsheets or desktop software, we'll tell you honestly whether moving is worth it for your size of business.

Do we have to meet in person?

Only if you want to. We're at 1326 156 St SW in Edmonton and happy to meet, but most clients send documents digitally and handle everything by email and video.

What do you need from me each month?

Bank and credit card access or statements, your receipts and bills, and payroll hours if we run payroll. Everything else is on us. Most clients spend under thirty minutes a month on their books once the setup is done.
